Hi Steemers!
This post is oriented towards those living, planning to live, making an extended stay in Korea, traveling to, OR for those of you who are Korean!
As some may or may not know, Korea gets really cold during the winter. REALLY COLD! So cold, that a lot of the country shuts down during December, January, and through February. For those living in the South, of South Korea, it might be more bearable, but for those living in Seoul, you might as well be living in the Arctic.
The streets become frozen with ice, and you are met with -10+ weather throughout these months. It has been my experience, that Koreans don't like going outside during this time, because it is just too cold. This causes most of the outdoor activities to come to a halt, and limit what might be available in terms of enjoyment. So, instead of being Bankok (Korean term for staying inside all day), I have decided to right a 4 part series of things you can do! And yes, 3 of these things, you can do in the warm comfort of the indoors. However, I do apologize, as this post is more oriented towards couples. TT Sorry~ YOU COULD STILL DO IT BY YOURSELF THOUGH! (Also, these activities are more for people living near Seoul). Or maybe go with a group of friends.
Activity 1: MusToy!
What is Mustoy? Mustoy is a little craft shop located near HyungDae Station exit 8 (Seogyo-dong , Mapo-gu, Seoul). They provide little ceramic dolls for you to decorate, and there are several different shapes of dolls for you to choose from. Usually couples choose a male shape and female shape, so they can decorate each other. Once you are seated at a table, one of the staff provide you with little sketch cards and pencils, you then draw a mock design of how you want your doll to look.
One must think hard about what they will draft.
A lot of people take their doll very seriously, and others draw really silly designs. There is no right way to design your doll. Once you have an idea, you can start drafting.
Once you are ready, you are provided with an assortment of colored sharpies. The sharpies are what you use to draw your design onto the doll. It also can be wiped off if you make a mistake, but allows it to be long lasting from just normal wear. It's fun to watch the dolls come to life.
Whenever I start to do arts and crafts, I end up getting in this zone.
HAIR COMPLETE!
Then the clothes! I was trying to draw a Hanbok; traditional Korean dress, but... anyway hahaha.
Hard at work.
Finally! The completed product!
Doll Selfie!
