The police have arrested 14 persons in connection with the robbery of the accused in the rural electricity case who attacked the police in Sadar Upazila of Noakhali. Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Abdur Rob Chowdhury of Sudharam police station injured in this incident and five policemen were given first aid at Noakhali General Hospital with 250 beds.

The accused will be handed over to the Noakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Wednesday (June 26) morning. Earlier, this incident took place at Chowrasta Bazar of Underchar Union of Upazila at around 11:30 on Tuesday. After receiving the information, additional police from the district headquarters raided the area and arrested 14 people involved in the attack.

According to the police and locals, Matin is the accused in two cases of Palli Vidyut. He is the son of former chairman of Underchar Union Parishad and former president of Union Awami League Azizul Haque Baksi and a businessman in the local Chowrasta market. ASI Abdur Rob Chowdhury of Sudharam police station arrested Matin (35) from Chowrasta Bazar of the upazila around 10 am on Tuesday. After that, on the way to bring the arrested accused to the police station, the other sons of former chairman Baksi along with their accomplices stopped the police CNG at the local intersection market. At one stage they attacked the police and snatched Mateen. At this time, five members of the police were injured. Later on the same day from 4 pm to 5 pm, the police arrested 14 people involved in the attack. At the same time, former chairman Azizul Haque Baksi was also brought to the police station for questioning.

Noakhali Sadar Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Mortahin Billah said, when a warrant was arrested, the accused's family members and associates attacked and took away the accused. Later, the police conducted a raid and arrested 14 people, including the abducted accused. Former chairman Baksi has been released after interrogation. In this incident, 14 people have been charged with the crime of obstructing government work.
