Lake Laut Tawar, that is the name given by the Gayo tribe for this 5472 hectare lake. Lake Laut Tawar is like a blue carpet when you pass on it with a helicopter or a plane, like the remnants of sea water trapped in the mainland during a major storm thousands of years ago.

Belom clear why the lake is located in the city of Takengon, Central Aceh, Aceh Province is called Lake Laut Tawar. Probably because of the vast sea kayak but the water is not salty alias bargain. Then here there are also waves or tidal as in the sea. But some time ago reportedly a small tornado had crossed in Lake Laut Tawar and make the surrounding community. This tornado phenomenon was also recorded camera loh n video can you see on YouTube.
