Swamplands of the danube river

This is a typical Swamp area of the Danube River in Lower Austria, and in most of the cases a good territory for bird photography, especially, herons, night herons, kingfishers and other bird species that live near the water. But also a lot of mosquitoes and other insects live there. There are some marked trails inside the swamp lands, but if you don't want to be interrupted by bicycle drivers or hiking people, you should either go to the very end of one of the sidearms of the trail or stay a little off the trails in the wild. But good Shoes and Outdoor clothing is necessary if you do so.

In Summer, you also need to bring a lot of patience with you because the time where you are able to see some birds is usually very short. Some hours in the morning after sunrise and some hours before sunset in the evening. During the day it is rather difficult. Maybe you find a gray heron hiding in the shadow or a kingfisher on a branch, but most of the other birds are probably hiding in the branches due to the warm weather.
