A companion photograph to the one I posted earlier of the lighthouse at Cromwell Point on Valentia Island, Co. Kerry. The lighthouse itself guards the channel between Valentia and Beginish Island and was built on the site of a 16th century fortification, the outline of which is still apparent.
In this photograph, the weather is much more benign. In fact, it would have been insanity (if not impossible) to have stood on this vantage point during the storm in my previous post. I used a 30-second exposure to give the waves a creamy feel, suggesting motion, while the rugged landscape is motionless and fixed.
