The white cliffs of Dover

image

I don't know know why, but I had always wanted to visit the white cliffs of Dover. After landing at Heathrow last year I grabbed a hire car and headed out there on my way to Newmarket.

The cliffs didn't disappoint! The white was striking against the green grass and blue sky. I was pleased that France & Belgium were visible across the Channel.

I wonder if there is a historical link for my family to this area. My ancestors were from the Eastern side of London, between London and the coast. I can't help but think many generations ago one of my ancestors marvelled at the same cliffs I did on this day.

If I have the opportunity, I'm always interested to feel the resonance of the rock, or chalk as it is in this case.

There is a special vibration to be felt if you can quiet the mind, be still and present. The earth speaks to us.

Have you ever been to Dover?

I haven't been to Dover, but I've always wanted to see the Cliffs of Dover. This post makes me impatient to travel. Beautiful pictures though. hope to see more!

Thanks - they are impressive to see up close & personal :-)

This is the wonderful place I have ever seen but didn't visit yet. :(

I hope you get to see it one day 👍

No i didn't visit Dover but seems to be cool place for hiking, By the way what is the temperature of Dover in summer?

It was warm, when I was there last July - about 28 degrees Celsius. Very comfortable for walking.

not warm at all from my standard. We face summer of 48 - 50 Degree Celsius here in our region

Woah! Cool then ;-)

yes 28 will be enjoyable for me. However it's not easy to survive at 48 - 50 Degree Celsius:)

I bet. If we get over 40 here it is unbearable. Today is a 'heat wave' at 37 degrees and people are scared to go outside.
