One persistent annoyance that consistently shows that secular supporters of Hamas are cogs in a religious machine is that they've gotten used to using the word "Semitic" as a gotcha moment even when I don't use the word.
Referring to people who hate Jews as "antisemitic" has become common enough that a lot of people do misuse the term, and don't realize that many Muslims, including Muslims in Gaza and the West Bank, are Semitic.
I noticed this problem years ago, and stopped using the term.
That's why every time I've commented on the recent escalation of the conflict, I've referred to the Jewish people as...well...Jewish people, rather than using the word "Semitic."
Still, the pro-terrorist side is constantly trying to hit me with the, "Derrr, the Palestinians are Semitic, too." even though I never used the damn word.
