Which language will you encourage your child to learn to benefit from a better future?
Historically, the answer was Spanish, given the number of countries in the world speaking, reports the Express Gazette.

However, recent studies prefer French, German and Mandarin.

Business Economics, Research and Opinion Center in cooperation with Heathrow Airport has surveyed 2,001 parents and children under the age of 18, along with a survey of more than 500 business leaders around the UK.

45% of parents said that their children did not speak a second language, while 19% said they were not interested in learning a second language.

One in 10 people said their children are very difficult to learn new languages.

The researchers found that French, German, and Mandarin are the three languages that children will need to learn to benefit their lives in ten years.

Language skills are expected to add up to 500 billion in the economy by 2027.

Professor of Linguistics at the University of Edinburgh and Director of Bilingual Affairs, Antonella Sorace said:

This research shows how important language learning is in the UK economy and shows that far more doors are opened to people who teach a second language as children.

We believe that language learning is extremely useful for children's development and is a real investment for the future: children who are exposed to different languages become more aware of different cultures, people, and other views.

They also tend to be better than multitasking monolinguals and are often more advanced readers.

Bilingualism gives children far more than just two languages, so it's wonderful to see Heathrow is helping to encourage children to learn languages.

Technology is going to make the language barriers around the world cease to exist. You will be able to speak whatever language you want and your phone will auto translate it and relay it to the person your speaking to in any language they wish. The same is true with reading a different language as they already have apps that can translate real world text in real-time using the camera on your phone.

The idea of someone needing to learn a specific language to have an "edge" in the future is honestly a thing of the past, and in the next few years people worldwide are quickly going to realize this fact.

You are so right from that perspective, now if we think about communicative skills and memory improvement that children can have, learning a language becomes a good strategy.
Soy nueva, te invito a leer mi presentación.

In the current era of globalization and the future, mastering more than one language will be very beneficial for our children, so they can compete and not be excluded. Nice post..
