INTRODUCTION:
Teaching from the Bible book of Numbers Chapter Eleven from verses one to Twenty Four: When the Israelites were on their way to Canaan under the leadership of Moses, it came to a point that the burden of their needs was weighing him down. God instructed him on what to do and that was gathering about seventy elders and officers of the tribes of Israel he know and to bring them before His presence. God told him to do this because; leadership is burdensome. This is because where there are people to be led and there are needs for the leadership to meet.
Numbers 11:11-14 says, And Moses said unto the LORD, Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favour in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me? Have I conceived all this people? have I begotten them, that thou shouldest say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing father beareth the sucking child, unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers? Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat. I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.
6 FACTS ABOUT TRUE LEADERSHIP
There is leadership; but there is True Leadership. Concerning True leadership, continuing from where I stopped on my first post on the above subject:
- IT IS ABOUT GIVING THE PEOPLE YOU LEAD TRUE HOPE:
When the hope you gives as a leaders is of empty promises, your leadership is not genuine at all. Moses gave the people he led hope of having food to eat not just for one day, two, three, four or five days but for month until they have it more than abundant.
Numbers 11:18-20 And say thou unto the people, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow, and ye shall eat flesh: for ye have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and ye shall eat. Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days; But even a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you: because that ye have despised the LORD which is among you, and have wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?
- TRUE LEADERSHIP IS ABOUT FOLLOWING GOD AND LEADING OTHERS TO FOLLOW GOD:
True leaders hear God and tell those they lead what God said. They never add or subtract. They are also obedient to Gods instructions and also instruct others to obey God as well.
The apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 11:1 said, “Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.”
