Wisdom of the Day - A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.

Are you tired of people standing on the sideline telling you what to do? It is so easy to just be wise when looking at everyone else. We love watching TV shows from our living rooms, and there we are sitting and telling ourselves and our companions why the people on TV are behaving so stupidly. Of course, we don't really have a clue what we are speaking about, but we just like to pretend to be very wise.

That is when I would like to give some focus to this quote from John Maxwell.

A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.

A leader isn't a person who is just shouting from the sideline. He is one who is actually doing the job. He is walking the way, and he is showing the way.

Not long ago, I watched a TV series about a detective trying to help someone in an ISIS country. It was annoying how the detective always told the person in Syria what to do. The detective was living in peaceful Sweden, while the person in Syria was risking her life with every single action she made. It was annoying. It is so easy to give orders from your own peaceful location to someone in a much worse place.

But, a true leader isn't just shouting from the side. A true leader is actually out there showing the way and walking the way. You might not have to be in there on every single step and know about every single detail. But, it is your task to be a person with integrity who doesn't leave the ugly jobs to everyone else, while you sip a cup of coffee in your office and do nothing.
