Leadership, a matter of competence or following though?

In my college days, I had an assignment similar to a book review. From the information below, can you tell me the name of the book? I’ll give you a hint.

Chapter 2 review

  • Leaders do not get extraordinary things done all by themselves.

  • A leader must be honest, forward-looking inspiring, and competent in order for most
    people to be willing to follow them.

  • Leaders do more than deliver results they respond to the expectations of their
    constituents.

  • Those that follow an honest leader believe this quality is also a reflection of themselves.

  • Forward thinking is the ability to imagine or discover a desirable destination toward
    which all involved should head.

  • Leaders that inspire offer people hope.

  • Competence refers to the leaser’s track record and ability to get work done.

  • Competence also refers to the ability to continuously learn the business and improve it.

  • Credibility is the foundation of leadership.
    o If you don’t believe in the messenger, you won’t believe the message.

  • Credibility effects employee attitude. It also influences customer, employee and
    investors loyalty.

  • Leaders must act on their beliefs and do
    Competence is referred to as the ability to do something successfully. My personal definition of
    competence is the ability to problem solve, to be adaptable, and to learn. This chapter emphasized the important of credibility, competence, and inspiration. In order to improve my leadership effectiveness, I need to be more intentional about utilizing my previous experience with the resources available to adapt them. The goal through this process is to not become complacent with learning. In the previous chapter the author utilized the acronym

P.R.I.D.E:

Personal Responsibility In Delivering Excellence.

This will drive my goal to never become
complacent with learning.

My issues

Can anyone give an example of a leader that had credibility and did not follow through?

When has competence in a leader not been enough and why?

An army of a thousand is easy to find but ah how difficult to find a general. Leadership does matter though. @kubbyelizabeth

Leaders can be and can also be led, have a wise attitude, firm, resilient and honest. The attitude of a leader to the employee is to be able to educate and nurture his employees to be more devoted to himself, not to assume his subordinates like subordinates, but to take it as a co-worker. That is my definition of leader. Thank you science today, this could be a reference material for me. I am glad to be your friend.

I really can't think of anyone off the top of my head for your question. Most of the people I think of a terrible leaders I'm not sure had credibility to begin with and the ones that did have credibility but didn't follow through you can't really blame them for not following through (i.e. Abraham Lincoln). I'll have to see what other people post to see who I missed.

Dang! Thats good advice, But at the same time, I'm a little disappointed that I don't know what book you are talking about. Being a leader is such an important personality trait, But can be hard to apply
