Self development is the first pillar.

How we work on ourselves will continue to impact our interpersonal relationships, how we achieve things as part of a group, group, and our success in a connected global community.

As John Dugan (2012) of Loyola University states, “Although leadership is a group process, it is predicated on first developing the individual skill that allows someone to work in process.”

Peter Senge (2006), director of the Center for Organizational Learning at the MIT Sloan School of Management, elaborates that, “Personal mastery is the discipline of continually clarifying and deepening our personal vision, of focusing our energies, of developing patience, and of seeing reality objectively” (p. 7).

In other words, it is vital to develop ourselves continuously so we can better impact others and the systems we operate in.
