TRUE LEADERSHIP (Part 1)

INTRODUCTION:

Teaching from the Bible book of Numbers Chapter Eleven from verses one to Twenty Four: When the Israelites were on their way to Canaan under the leadership of Moses, it came to a point that the burden of their needs was weighing him down. God instructed him on what to do and that was gathering about seventy elders and officers of the tribes of Israel he know and to bring them before His presence. God told him to do this because; leadership is burdensome. This is because where there are people to be led and there are needs for the leadership to meet.

Numbers 11:11-14 says, And Moses said unto the LORD, Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favour in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me? Have I conceived all this people? have I begotten them, that thou shouldest say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing father beareth the sucking child, unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers? Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat. I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.

6 FACTS ABOUT TRUE LEADERSHIP

On this series, I will be sharing with us six facts about true leadership. in this article, I will be sharing two and others in my subsequent posts.

There is leadership; but there is True Leadership. Concerning True leadership,

1. IT IS NOT ABOUT STANDING ALONE:
   True leadership is not about standing alone rather it is about gathering other leaders to stand with you. No one leads in isolation. A tree cannot make a forest. The glory of the king is in the people says the scriptures. So, true leaders are not lone rangers. They are leaders of leaders and leaders of the people.

True leaders have other leaders standing with them. They gather people through Gods leading to stand with them.

Numbers 11:16 And the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee.

Anyone you bring and all he does every time is to withstand you is not meant to be in your team. Anyone who pushes you away to stand in your position is a rebel. Anyone who discourages others from standing with you is a wicked. And hand join in hand, the wicked shall not go unpunished.

Take note of this!

1. TRUE LEADERSHIP IS A CALL TO BEAR THE PEOPLES BURDEN:
   It is never a call for pleasure. It is not a call to place your burdens upon the people you lead; but it is about bearing their burdens. It is about meeting their needs.

Numbers 11:11 And Moses said unto the LORD, Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favour in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?

Any leader that is after placing his needs and that of his family upon the people he or she is not a leader is an oppressor. I advice anyone aspiring to become a true leader that if the salaries, privileges and allowances you takes are so much to the detriment of those who you leads, you need to cut it down and use it to better their lives.

True leadership is not about bearing the burden alone; but about gathering other leaders you know so to bear the peoples’ burdens with you under same anointing and the spirit of grace.

Your leadership is not genuine until you come to the point of saying to God, I cannot bear this leadership burdens, and it is too heavy for me.

In Numbers 11:14 Moses said to God, “I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me. “

Nothing is as shameful as not meeting peoples demand as a leaders. At this point all you need is God to cover your nakedness. So, if leadership has not brought you to this point, where you ask God to cover your nakedness, I don’t think it is a genuine one.

Number 11:15 And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.

True leadership call from God will never leave you with having all you need to handle peoples demand. If you have all you need to handle all leadership challenges, you won’t have need for God or to depend or run to Him for intervention.

Take note of this!

The essence of having leadership team is for them to bear the peoples burden with the visionary leader. Any associate or subordinate who cannot bear the peoples burdens with you is not qualified to be in your leadership team. Any associate or subordinate who wants to take off your hands from bearing peoples burden is a rebel. Any associate or subordinate whose hand is on the burden with others together with the visionary leader and takes off his or hands so the weight of the peoples burden with weigh others down and render the leadership incapacitated to bear peoples’ burdens is a deceitful and wicked person.

True leadership is about shared burden. It is about shared responsibilities. Anyone, associate or subordinate who deliberately fails in his responsibility so the team would fail is a wicked person and by so doing attracts the curse of God to his or her life. Gods’ assignment should not be done deceitfully; else, you will attract the curse of God to your life.
