Whiteywood, whose botanical name is melicytus ramiflorus, is a small tree in the family violaceae.
Also called māhoe, it is endemic to New Zealand.
The plant is dioecious, with smooth whitish bark and fragile twigs, usually growing up to 10 meters tall, with stems up to 60 cm thick.
The leaves are alternate, dark green in color, and have finely serrated edges.
