River cane, scientific name arundinaria gigantea, is a type of bamboo also called giant cane that typically grows up to 10 meters tall.
Actually a type of cane, the bamboo is a perennial plant with a round, hollow stem that is over 7 cm in diameter.
Its leaves are lanceolate, about 30 cm long and 4 cm wide.
These leaves are a favorite food of livestock, as they are eagerly grazed, so the river cane population is becoming scarce.
