Winter daphne, whose botanical name is daphne odora, is a species of flowering plant in the thymelaeaceae family.
It is an evergreen shrub that originated in China and spread to Japan and Korea.
The flowers are very fragrant, tubular, pale pink, with four spreading leaves on each.
The leaves are glossy and fragrant too. Therefore, in Korea, this plant is also poetically called "chullihyang" - smells like a thousand miles.
Winter daphne is propagated by semi-ripe cuttings in summer.
