Japanese stone oak (scientific name lithocarpus edulis) is a tall evergreen tree native to Kyushu and Okinawa.
This tree is one of so-called oak trees and can grow up to 10 meters tall.
The leaves are leathery, elongated, ovate, and 8-20 cm long. The upper surface is bright green and shiny, while the lower surface is light brown and hairy.
Japanese stone oak is known for its resistance to air pollution and fast growth, and is widely used as a roadside and garden tree.
