Japanese photinia with scientific name photinia glabra, is a small evergreen tree in the genus photinia of the rose family.
It is well branched, densely covered with broad leaves, and grows 3 to 5 meters tall.
The tree is native to Japan, southeastern and south-central China, Thailand, and Burma, and was introduced to Korea and the United States (Louisiana).
The leaf blade is ovate, pointed at both ends, coarsely shiny, and has finely serrated edges. And the young leaves are beautiful with a reddish color.
