Chinese privet, with the scientific name ligustrum sinense, is a deciduous shrub growing 2 to 7 m tall with dense, hairy buds.
It is a native warbler species of China, Taiwan, and Vietnam, and occurs naturally in the Reunion, Andaman Islands, Norfolk Island, Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, and much of the eastern and southern United States.
Leaves are opposite, 2-7 cm long, 1-3 cm wide, and petioles 2-8 mm long.
Fruits are subglobose, 5-8 mm in diameter, and considered poisonous.
The flowers are white with a 4-lobed corolla 3.5-5.5 mm long.
