The broad-leaf privet with the scientific name ligustrum lucidum is a species of flowering plant in the olive family oleaceae.

Also known as chinese privet, glossy privet, tree privet or wax-leaf privet, it is native to southern China.

The tree is a tall evergreen tree that can grow up to 10 meters tall and is often used in various forms as an ornamental tree.

Its glossy, dark green leaves are opposite, 6 to 17 centimeters long and 3 to 8 centimeters wide.

Its Latin name lucidum means "bright" or "glossy" and refers to its leaves.
