Anise hyssop, whose botanical name is agastache foeniculum, is a species of perennial plant in the mint family (lamiaceae).
Also called blue giant hyssop, fragrant giant hyssop, and lavender giant hyssop, it is native to much of central and northern North America, especially in the Great Plains and other prairies.
This plant grows in upright clumps that are 61 to 120 cm tall and about 30 cm wide.
The flowers are displayed in showy verticillasters, or false circles, and may branch at the apex.
These flowers look like bright lavender, become more colorful near the apex, and bloom from June to September.
