Arrowhead violet, whose botanical name is viola betonicifolia, is an annual plant of the genus viola that has both pansies and violets.
Commonly known as showy violet or mountain violet, it is found in Tasmania and eastern mainland Australia.
Its bright purple flowers appear in spring and summer and are showy, 1 to 1.5 cm in diameter.
These flowers are followed by small pale brown pods with tiny black seeds.
