Asian tick trefoil, scientific name desmodium heterocarpon, is a perennial stolonifera that reproduces aggressively and produces dense stands.
It is a humid tropical and subtropical plant found at elevations up to 1000 meters.
The plant prefers an average annual rainfall in the range of 2000 to 3000 mm and a dry season of no more than three to four months.
It then grows best in areas with annual daytime temperatures of 14-24°C.
This plant is also harvested from nature for local use as a medicine.
