The bald cypress whose botanical name is taxodium distichum is a deciduous conifer in the cupressaceae family.
It is also called swamp cypress, white cypress, tidewater red cypress, gulf cypress and red cypress, and is a slow-growing, long-lived and large tree up to 10β40 m tall.
The leaves are needle-like, simple, alternately growing, green, linear, with a whole margin.
These needles will fall every winter, and grow new in the spring.
