Broad-leaf privet, whose botanical name is ligustrum lucidum, is a species of flowering plant in the Oleaceae family.

It is also called Chinese privet, glossy privet, tree privet or wax-leaf privet. It is native to southern China, but has naturalized in many places.

Broad-leaf privet is an evergreen tree that grows up to 10 m (33 ft) tall. It is often used as an ornamental tree, sometimes in variegated forms.

The specific Latin nickname lucidum means "bright" or "shiny", i.e. referring to the leaves.

The seeds are known in traditional Chinese medicine as nu zhen zi (female purity seeds/berries) and are thought to nourish the liver and kidneys.
