Camphorwood (Camphora Officinarum)

Camphorwood, whose scientific name is camphora officinarum, is a type of evergreen tree.

Also called camphor tree or camphor laurel, it is native to China south of the Yangtze River, Taiwan, southern Japan, Korea, India, and Vietnam.

The leaves have a waxy sheen and smell like mothballs when crushed.

There are five trees of camphorwood in Japan with trunk circumference exceeding 20 meters.
