The China Rose, scientific name hibiscus rosa-sinensis, is a species of tropical hibiscus flower, a flowering plant of the Hibisceae tribe family Malvaceae.

Colloquially, it is also known as Chinese hibiscus, Hawaiian hibiscus, rose mallow, and shoeblackplant.

The plant is an evergreen shrub or small tree with glossy leaves and bright red flowers that bloom in summer and fall.

The leaves are simple, with alternating inflorescences and petioles. The leaves are elliptic in shape with pointed tips and serrated edges.

The flowers are large, showy, trumpet-shaped, with five petals, white to pink, red, orange, peach, yellow or purple.
