Chinese windmill palm, whose botanical name is trachycarpus fortunei, is a species of evergreen palm tree in the arecaceae family.
Also called windmill palm or Chusan palm, it is native to China, Japan, Myanmar, and parts of India.
The leaves have long petioles, bare except for two rows or so of small spines, and end in a rounded fan shape composed of numerous leaflets.
The leaf texture is very coarse, the base of the leaf persistently pinching the stem as a layer of coarse fibrous material.
