Fiddle dock, whose botanical name is rumex pulcher, is a species of flowering plant in the family polygonaceae.
The plant is native to Eurasia and North Africa, but is also found elsewhere, including parts of North America, as an invasive species and roadside weed.
Fiddle dock is a perennial herb with erect, slender, thick, straight-rooted stems that can reach up to 70 cm tall.
The leaves vary in shape, but are often oval, with a leathery fiddle center, and are about 10-15 cm long.
