Florida thatch palm with the botanical name thrinax radiata is a medium to slow growing palm tree .
The tree is native to the Caribbean islands, Central America, and as far south as Florida.
The leaves are palmate and emerge from the petiole and divide into segments about half as long, forming a pointed hastula.
Like other palms, this species grows thick and low near the ground, before the meristem grows vertically into a slender tree form.
