Garlic chives, botanical name allium tuberosum, is a species of plant native to Shanxi Province, China, and cultivated and naturalized elsewhere in Asia and throughout the world.

Also called Oriental garlic, Asian chives, Chinese chives, or Chinese leek, it is an annual plant that forms a clump of rhizomes.

The leaves are string-like, triangular at the base and about 1.5 to 8 mm wide, and are used as a flavoring agent, like scallions in stir-fries.

In East Asia, garlic chives have been widely cultivated for culinary purposes for centuries.
