The scientific name for hatsuyuki kazura is trachelospermum asiaticum "hatsuyukikazura". It is a cold tolerant, crawling, vining, evergreen shrub.

This plant is a horticultural variety of the Asian jasmine (trachelospermum asiaticum) species belonging to the Apocynaceae family and is native to Japan and the Korean Peninsula.

The leaves turn pink or white, making it suitable for use as a ground cover plant with colored foliage.

It has white flowers similar to those of the mottled leaves. Flowering season is from May to June.
