Japanese zelkova (scientific name: zelkova serrata) is a species of tree in the genus zelkova native to Japan, Korea, eastern China, and Taiwan.
Also called Japanese elm or keyaki, it is a medium-sized deciduous tree that usually reaches a height of about 30 meters.
It is characterized by a short main trunk with few branches and a vase-like shape.
Japanese zelkova is widely cultivated as a garden tree because of its beautiful bark, leaf color, and vase shape.
