Lamb's-ear with the botanical name stachys byzantina is a species of flowering plant in the lamiaceae family native to Armenia, Iran, and Turkey.
Also called woolly hedgenettle, it is a herbaceous perennial plant usually densely covered with fine gray or silvery-white hairs.
The leaves are thick, slightly wrinkled, and densely covered on both sides with fine silvery-gray hairs. The underside is more silvery-white than the upper surface.
The thick leaves are pleasant to the touch, which is why lamb's ear is commonly grown for children's gardens.
