The London plane with the scientific name platanus Γ acerifolia (synonym platanus Γ hispanica) is a tree of the genus platanus.
Also called hybrid plane or London planetree, it is a large deciduous tree with a trunk circumference of more than 3 meters and a height of 20 to 30 meters.
The tree is usually considered a hybrid between platanus orientalis (oriental plane) and platanus occidentalis (American sycamore).
In Australia, London plane is widely used as a street tree in major cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth.
