Māhoe (scientific name melicytus ramiflorus) is a small, tall tree of the violet family endemic to New Zealand.
Also called whiteywood, it is usually 10 meters tall with a trunk up to 60 centimeters in diameter.
The tree is dioecious with smooth, whitish bark and brittle twigs.
The flowers are small yellowish flowers 3-4 mm in diameter, growing directly from the bare twigs and strongly fragrant.
