The native olive, with the botanical name olea paniculata, is a plant of the genus Olea and is still related to the olive.

It grows naturally from tropical Asia in Pakistan and southwestern China (Yunnan) to Australia, and on the Pacific islands of New Caledonia, Vanuatu, and Lord Howe Island.

The leaves are glossy green elliptic, 5-10 cm long and 1.5-6 cm wide, with a pointed tip.

The fruit is blue-black, elliptic, and 0.8-1.2 cm long.
