The Northern Red Oak with the scientific name quercus rubra is an oak of the red oak group (quercus section lobatae).
Sometimes called the champion oak, it is native to North America, the eastern and central United States, and southeastern and south-central Canada.
The leaves are alternate, oblong-ovate to oblong-elliptic, with seven to nine lobes.
The lobes gradually taper from a broad base, usually wavy, and end in pointed teeth.
