Dendrobium is a genus of epiphytic and rocky orchids in the family Orchidaceae.
The name Dendrobium is derived from the ancient Greek words dendron, meaning "tree" and bios, meaning "life," and refers to most of the epiphytic habits of the species.
One to many leaves are arranged in two rows, and the leaf shape varies from linear to oval and in some cases cylindrical.
When present, the pseudobulb is rigid, sometimes rod-shaped, cylindrical or conical, and covered at the base of the leaf.
