Pandan, whose botanical name is pandanus, is a genus of monocotyledonous, they are palm-like dioecious trees and shrubs.
Also called screw palm or screw pine, it is native to the Old World tropics and subtropics, most commonly found in Madagascar and Malaysia.
The upper part of the plant has one or more corolla-shaped leaves with spines that are 30 cm to 2 m long and 1.5 cm to 10 cm wide, depending on the species.
In Southeast and South Asia, Pandanus amaryllifolius pandan leaves are widely used in cooking to add flavor and aroma.
