Poisonwood with the botanical name metopium toxiferum is a species of flowering tree in the cashew nut or sumac family (anacardiaceae).

Also known as Florida poisontree or hog gum, it is native to the American Neotropics.

This tree, like its close relatives, poison oak and poison sumac, produces the pungent urushiol.

Poisonwood is found in a variety of ecosystems in South Florida and especially thrives in the Florida Keys.
