Primulina is the largest ex chirita genus in gesneriaceae family, but not the most widespread.
It is found only in the limestone areas of western and southern China and northern Vietnam.
All species are herbaceous perennials and many have slightly leathery patterned leaves or attractive flowers.
Guangxi is known to be very rich in primulina species, which account for about half of all species.
