Purple secretia, whose scientific name is tradescantia pallida, is a scrambling, tall, evergreen perennial.
Also called purple heart or purple queen, it is native to the Gulf Coast region of eastern Mexico.
The leaves are slender and pointed, gray-green or purple in color, sometimes edged with red or purple.
Purple secretia is widely used as a garden and border ornamental, groundcover, and vine.
