Rose of Sharon, whose scientific name is hibiscus syriacus, is a species of flowering plant in the mallow family.
It is also known as Syrian ketmia, shrub althea, and rose mallow (in the UK), and is native to Korea, south-central and southeastern China.
The tree is erect, vase-shaped, 2-4 m tall, and has large trumpet-shaped flowers with conspicuous yellow-white stamens at the tips.
The leaves are usually green or yellow-green, alternate, broadly ovate, and palmately veined.
