The roundleaf dogwood, botanically cornus rugosa, is a deciduous tree native to the northern half of the eastern and central United States and southern parts of central and eastern Canada.
It is a shrub or small tree with yellow-green twigs, sometimes with red or purple spots, usually reaching 1 to 4 meters in height.
The leaves are rounded and ringed with pointed tips, arranged opposite each other, all edges and sometimes with hairs underneath.
This plant, like most dogwoods, is shade tolerant and prefers well-drained rather than moist soil.
