Scarlet rātā, whose botanical name is Metrosideros fulgens, is a forest vine or vine endemic to New Zealand.
It is also called rātā vine or akatawhiwhi in Māori and is a dense shrub that produces bright burnt orange flowers.
Many of its leaves have rounded tips.
It often grows in warm, moist areas, reaching a height of 10 meters or more and a main stem diameter of 10 cm or more.
