It is also known as Chinese (climbing) knotweed and is native to central and southern China.

It is a perennial herbaceous vine that grows 2 to 4 m tall from a tree tuber.

The leaves are broadly arrowhead-shaped and have a whole margin.

The tuber fleeceflower is one of the most popular perennial herbal medicines and is registered in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia.
