Tulipwood, botanically named liriodendron tulipifera, is the North American representative of the tallest eastern hardwood trees.
Also called tulip tree, American tulip tree, tuliptree, tulip poplar, whitewood, fiddletree, and yellow-poplar, it is one of the largest trees native to eastern North America.
The tree grows to over 50 meters in its native Appalachian Gulf Coast forest and is an extremely valuable timber tree.
Today, the tulip tree is one of the largest and most valuable hardwoods in eastern North America.
