Urajironoki (Japanese), whose botanical name is aria japonica, is found growing naturally in mountainous areas near the coasts of Honshu and Kyushu, Japan.
The tree produces numerous double inflorescences with numerous small white flowers scattered from the tips of the short branches and sides of the leaves.
The back and leaf pattern is initially covered with thick white downy hairs, which become almost hairless as it grows.
The leaves are oval or broadly oblong, 6-13 cm long and 4-9 cm wide.
