Wax-leaf privet, whose scientific name is ligustrum lucidum, is a species of flowering plant in the oleaceae family that is native to southern China and has become naturalized in many places.
Also called broad-leaf privet, Chinese privet, glossy privet, and tree privet, it is an evergreen tree that typically grows up to 10 m tall.
The leaves are glossy, dark green, opposite, 6 to 17 centimeters long and 3 to 8 centimeters wide.
Its specific Latin name "lucidum" means "bright" or "glossy. In other words, it is associated with its leaves.
